A gas engineer apprenticeship is one of the smartest ways to build a skilled team, or to start a career in a trade that's always in demand. It combines paid, hands-on work with structured training, so the apprentice earns and learns at the same time and finishes fully qualified.
At The Skills Centre we make the process simple. The Level 3 Gas Engineering apprenticeship delivers the knowledge, practical skills and Gas Safe registration a domestic gas engineer needs, delivered across five days a week split between our training centre and the workplace.
The programme runs a minimum of 18 months and finishes with an End Point Assessment. On completion the apprentice holds a BPEC Level 3 Gas Engineering certificate, full Gas Safe registration and the core technical qualifications, including CCN1, CENWAT, MET1, unvented hot water and water regulations.

Taking on an apprentice is one of the most cost-effective ways to build a skilled, loyal team. Instead of competing to hire scarce qualified engineers, you train one to your own standards while they work in your business four days a week. Most of the training cost is government-funded, and depending on your size and the apprentice's age your contribution can be very small, or nothing at all. Your business needs to be Gas Safe registered, and we support you through eligibility, funding and enrolment. If you don't have a candidate, we can help you find one.
An apprenticeship means you're paid to qualify, with no tuition fees to find. You work and earn on real jobs while you train, and you finish fully Gas Safe registered and ready to work. You'll need to be aged 16 or over and working for (or placed with) a Gas Safe registered employer. GCSE maths and English are desirable but not essential, and free Level 2 training is available if you need it.
